Duke arrived at the Shawano Humane Society with two other dogs, straight off of the Indian Reservation. Even though Duke was 4 years old, we don't believe he was ever groomed, had been tied out and not neutered. He was diagnosed to be heartworm positive. Many thanks to the Dr. Becky Barr who treated Duke and brought him to Todd Orthmann to be groomed at Todd's house (in another city) while she went to the theater. The transformation in those three hours was nothing short of miraculous. Three weeks into his heartworm treatment, he was discovered by Ann and Kevin who were looking to adopt their first samoyed. Duke fit the bill perfectly with his gentle spirit. It is obvious that Duke was very happy with who we found to be his forever home.
